My name is Natasha Richmond and I founded Trainers & Bananas to encourage and motivate people to eat well, move more, and enjoy life.

Trainers & Bananas started as a blog on Facebook (called Trainers & Bananas because that’s all I could see when I arrived at the London Marathon start line for the first time!), as a place to write about all my foodie and exercise adventures. I have always written for work and for pleasure, and it made sense to put it all in one place.

And in January 2017 I made the decision to turn Trainers & Bananas into my job. I have now finished my qualifications and I am now a personal trainer, fitness instructor (including core & circuit training) and nutrition coach (for weight management, sports & exercise, pre- and post natal nutrition, and childhood nutrition & obesity prevention).

In 2014, after not doing any serious exercise for about ten years, I went to my first karate class, and started running soon after. Since then I have earned 8 karate belts (two to go until my black belt!), I’ve competed in national kickboxing competitions, I ran the London Marathon in 2016, 2016 and 2018, and in 2019 I completed my own marathon to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

I love to cook, and I believe in a whole food, non-processed, low sugar diet. I don’t think that people should cut out food groups or eat strange food combinations in order to lose weight. My body is most definitely not a temple though – I love cake and chocolate, but in moderation!

We are all under constant pressure to diet and look good. From what we watch, what we read, and from our peers. But nobody LOOKS as good as someone who radiates confidence because they FEEL good.

And when you feel good, your mind is clear to focus on more important things, instead of worrying if you’ve eaten too much or whether you look ok. You will feel mentally uncluttered and ready to take on the world, in whatever way that might be!

Knowing that you are doing the best that you possibly can for the health of your body and mind without it feeling like a chore. This can be done through eating a healthy, balanced and nutritious diet, and moving your body. Counting calories has its place, and is certainly useful for identifying problem areas in your diet, but what you eat is so much more important.

Once you change your eating habits you will just know what to eat, and the ‘when will I eat again, what can I eat, I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO EAT!!!’ panic will be taken away.

Once you change the way you think about food, and when eating healthy food and doing exercise is the norm, you will feel liberated.

The main aim of Trainers & Bananas is to help people to achieve their weight, nutrition and exercise goals, so that they can feel good. Whether that’s to lose weight, maintain weight, gain weight, eat healthier foods, fuel training for a physical challenge, lose inches to get into a wedding dress, look good for a special birthday, or help whole families to eat better together.

There is a Trainers & Bananas package to suit everyone, and if not, I will create one. I have loads of motivation, enthusiasm and good ideas, and I will do everything that I can to help you be the best that you can be.
